HP LaserJet Pro MFP - Scan to a network folder

Learn how to scan a document to a network folder.

In order to use this feature, the printer must be connected to a network and the Scan to Network Folder feature must be configured. For instructions on how to configure the feature, go to HP LaserJet Pro MFP - Set up Scan to Network Folder.

You can also use the HP Smart app to scan documents and photos from the printer, capture items with the computer camera, or use the scan tools with files saved on the computer. By using HP Smart and pairing your printer with your HP account, you can access advanced scanning features, such as scanning to cloud locations.

Save a scanned document directly to a folder on the network

Use the printer control panel to scan a document and save it to a folder on the network.

In addition to the steps below, you can view the following video of how to scan a document and save it to a network folder.

  1. Load the document on the scanner glass or into the document feeder according to the indicators on the printer.

  2. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Scan icon, and then touch the Network Folder icon.

  3. In the list of network folders, select the folder to which you want to save the document.

  4. If prompted, enter the PIN.

  5. Select a file type from the Save As list.

  6. Touch <Filename>, and then use the keypad to enter a name for the scanned file.

  7. Touch Done.

  8. If you want to preview the scan or change the scan options, do the following:

    • To preview the scan, touch the Preview icon  or Touch to Preview. (The scan preview option varies depending on the printer model.)

    • For additional scan options, touch the Settings icon .

  9. Touch Send or Start Scan.
